I use the a mysql DB to serve both the message board and the news wire. With the added load on both the message board and the news wire during a big game, it gets overloaded. I'll look into what it would take to upgrade the server. It may also be possible to offload the mail server, because that also takes up a lot of cycles and it runs on the same CPU.
