Dec 16, 1999: -- Cecil Collins Arrested --
According to an Associated Press report out of Davie, FL, this
morning, RB Cecil Collins has been arrested on a burgary charge.
The AP report states that WSVN TV of Miami has reported that
police told them that Collins was arrested before dawn this morning
and charged with 2 counts of burglary for trying to break into a home
with two people inside.
My Comments:
When it rains, it pours.
However, before we all go jumping off a bridge together, let's
wait and see what the full story is, shall we? At this point, all we
really have is a third hand account of a supposed arrest. Right now,
we don't know if it's even true.
Assuming it's true, however, I think you can forget about
Cecil Collins ever returning to play for the team.
I don't know the details of his current legal situation, but I
do know that Collins is on probation for his past offenses in
Louisiana. It's possible that just the fact that he's been arrested
will violate his probation and he'll go back to jail.
Certainly, if he's convicted (or pleads guilty) to any crime,
he's going to jail. And that will end his career with the Dolphins
pretty quickly.
So, I guess we all wait now and see what the story is with
him. But maybe it will give the team (and the media) something else
to focus on instead of Dan's problems.
