Oct 08, 1998: -- Jordan Placed on IR --
The Dolphins announced this morning that they have placed wide
receiver Charles Jordan on injured reserve due to a strained adductor
tendon in his groin. One report says that the strain was so severe
that the tendon was actually pulling away from the bone. Placing
Jordan on injured reserve means that he will be out for the remainder
of the year.
Jordan is now scheduled to have surgery on his leg on
Saturday.
To take his place in the lineup, the Dolphins will most likely
go with Horace Copeland, whom they signed last week, but Nate Jacquet
will also get a chance to show what he can do.
To take Jordan's place on the roster, the Dolphins have signed
cornerback Emmanuel McDaniel. McDaniel was a 4th round pick by
Carolina in 1996 and appeared in 2 games for the Panthers. He was
then cut by Carolina and signed with the Colts, appearing in 3 games
for them last season before being waived this summer.
My Comments:
Well, it never fails. As soon as I say the Dolphins might
place Jordan on injured reserve - he gets placed on injured reserve.
Unfortunately, that is probably not going to make a big
difference to the team this year since Jordan has been playing pretty
poorly so far. Of course, a lot of that may have been due to his
groin injury, but either way, Jordan probably won't be missed.
It does get Copeland into the lineup that much faster and
maybe it will even give Nate Jacquet a chance.
As far as McDaniel is concerned, he does have 2 special teams
tackles from last year with the Colts, so he may be able to help out
at that position. I think that it's like that the Dolphins are a
little concerned about Jerry Wilson and the concussion he suffered on
Sunday. It's probable that Wilson will play on Monday night, but
concussions are tricky things.
