Aug 19, 1998: -- Bracey Walker Released --
The Dolphins released backup safety Bracey Walker today,
trimming the roster to 77 players. The team must get down to 61
players by next Tueday, following the preseason game against the
49ers this weekend.
Walker was claimed off waivers from the Bengals in August of
1997 to help out on special teams. Walker had started all of 1996 at
safety for Cincinnati, but was waived last summer and picked up by the
Dolphins.
Last year, Walker played almost exclusively on special teams
for the Dolphins, collecting 12 tackles in that role. He also had 4
regular team tackles and a fumble recovery.
My Comments:
Bracey Walker actually looked pretty good this pre-season. He
had some impressive blitzes in the pre-season games and wasn't
covering all that badly. I think that this move says a lot about how
much the secondary has improved over the past year.
