Jul 22, 1997: -- Scott Miller Re-Signs --
The Dolphins announced yesterday that they have re-signed
former Dolphin WR Scott Miller to a one year deal for undisclosed
terms. Miller was with the Dolphins for the previous 6 years before
being cut by the Dolphins this spring for salary cap reasons.
Even though the terms are unsdisclosed, the deal is almost
certainly for 1 year at the league minimum for veterans of $275,000.
In addition to Miller, the Dolphins cut offensive lineman Cal
Dixon. Dixon was acquired last summer as a free agent from the Jets,
but contributed very little to the team last year, other than being
the backup center for Tim Ruddy.
My Comments:
Miller didn't take a paycut because he wanted more money.
Now, guess what? He's probably playing for less than he would have
been if he'd stayed with the team.
And frankly, he still has to make the team, which isn't
guaranteed at all.
As for Dixon, he won't be missed now that John Bock has been
promoted to center.
