Jul 07, 1997: -- Spikes Has Surgery --
Irving Spikes had surgery today to remove loose bodies from
his left knee that had kept him out of the last quarterback camp.
According to ESPN, the surgery was successful and Spikes will begin
rehabilitation tomorrow.
Training camp for the Dolphins begins tomorrow for rookies,
but Spikes will be held out of camp until he gets the OK from the team
Doctor to participate.
My Comments:
The timing of this surgery seems very suspicious to me. Since
we have to assume that the team specified the timing of the operation,
perhaps JJ is seeing to it that Spikes won't be around to compete in
training camp.
Of course, if it was Spikes who decided to have the operation
now, he's basically ended his career with the Dolphins. But normally
it's the team who picks the timing for these operations.
