Nov 23, 1996: -- Jeff Cross Released --
DOLPHINS NEWS:
The Dolphins announced yesterday that they have released
defensive end Jeff Cross just 3 days after activating him off the
physically unable to perform roster.
Cross was originally a 9th round draft pick of the Dolphins
back in 1988 and started one game in his rookie year. After that,
Cross was a regular starter with the Dolphins and finished his career
with 59 and a half sacks, placing him fourth on the Dolphins all-time
sack list.
His best year was 1990, when he had 11 and a half sacks, 60
tackles and 3 forced fumbles and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the
only time in his career.
My Comments:
This surprises me a little, mostly because I thought that they
would have released him before activating him rather than after.
Also, it means that the remaining part of his signing bonus will be
accelerated into either this year's or next year's salary cap.
And the dismantling of the old Dolphins continues...
