Oct 14, 1996: -- Marino; Barnett to Practice --
DOLPHINS NEWS:
The Miami Herald is reporting today that both Dan Marino and
Fred Barnett will return to full practice on Wednesday, and if they
practice well, they might be available to play in Sunday's game
against the Eagles.
Barnett was originally thought to be out for most of the
season when he tore his ACL this summer, but has made one of the
fastest recoveries from this kind of injury in the history of the
league. Barnett started catching passes last week, but will
participate in his first full practice this Wednesday.
Marino went down with a broken bone in his foot during the
Colts game 3 weeks ago, but is also healing faster than expected and
says that his foot is feeling much better.
My Comments:
I'm very happy to see Dan back from his injury and the
addition of Fred Barnett will definitely help solidify the wide
receiver position.
And I hear from Miami that Marino and Barnett will almost
definitely start against the Eagles this weekend, provided that there
are no setbacks in their injuries.
However, I'm not sure that bringing either of them back for
the game against the Eagles would be a good idea. The turf in
Philadelphia is supposed to be among the hardest in the league and
that could cause them to re-injure themselves or slow the healing
process.
