DOLPHINS NEWS:
There are two rumors floating around Miami concerning possible
trades for the Dolphins. The first, as reported in today's Miami
Herald, is that the Dolphins may be interested in trading for
defensive end Anthony Smith of the Raiders.
Smith is an effective pass rusher, as is shown by his 49 sacks
in 5 years, but has a reputation as being undependable and may not be
able to adapt to the Dolphins' heavy workout schedule.
Also, the Raiders will want a high draft pick for Smith and
the Dolphins are unlikely to be willing to pay the price.
The other rumor I have heard is from a personal source, who
says that the Dolphins are also looking at a trade for a linebacker.
Who that linebacker could be and what they would trade for him is a
mystery, but apparently the Dolphins are looking hard for some
defensive help.
My Comments:
The Dolphins could use some help in the pass-rushing
department and that is what these trades would be about, if anything
were to come to pass. The NFL trading deadline is next Tuesday, so
anything that happens would have to happen by next week.
What happens Sunday against the Seahawks could have a major
effect on these possible trades.
