Sep 25, 1996: -- Marino Has Surgery --
DOLPHINS NEWS:
Dan Marino had surgery last night on his ailing right ankle to
repair the break that he suffered in the game against the Colts.
Following the successful surgery, the team announced that Marino would
be out 4-6 weeks, instead of the original estimate of 3-4 weeks.
Marino will certainly miss the upcoming games against Seattle
and Buffalo and will probably miss the games following that against
the Eagles and Dallas.
As far as Marino's replacement is concerned, JJ has said that
Erickson and Kosar will get an equal number of snaps in practice for
the next two weeks.
My Comments:
Well, I guess we'll get to see what this team is really made
of. If the offense doesn't play better than it did on Monday night
without Marino, then the Dolphins don't stand much of a chance.
I think that there's a good chance that Craig Erickson will be
the starter when the Dolphins play the Seahawks. Kosar was not
particularly impressive against the Colts and JJ came out and said
that there were a couple of times where Bernie didn't get the ball off
quickly enough.
Bernie just isn't mobile enough and can't get the ball off
fast enough to make up for his lack of mobility. That's why the Colts
were blitzing 7 guys towards the end of the game against the Colts.
