Jul 20, 1996: -- Dolphins Get Cash --
The Dolphins, apparently not content with signing Johnny
Mitchell on Wednesday, added tight end Kerry Cash to the roster
yesterday by signing him to a one year deal worth about $270,000.
Kerry Cash, who should not be confused with his twin brother
Keith, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, played for the Oakland
Raiders last year after 4 years with the Indianapolis Colts. He had
11 starts last year, catching 25 passes for 254 yards and two
touchdowns.
His best year was in 1992, when he when he started all 16
games and caught 43 passes for 521 yards and three touchdowns for the
Colts. That year, he was named all AFC by the Football News.
My Comments:
I guess JJ didn't think he had enough depth at tight end.
Cash seems to be an unexceptional player, but steady enough to provide
some reliable backup and possibly and additional receiving threat,
especially out of a two tight end set.
