Jul 19, 1996: -- Abdul-Jabbar Signs at Last --

The Dolphins announced yesterday that they had signed their last unsigned draft pick - 3rd round running back Karim Adbul-Jabbar - to a 3 year deal worth approximately $960,000. Immediately after signing, Abdul-Jabbar joined the Dophins training camp and participated in yesterday's one hour workout.

The Dolphins also signed free agent defensive tackle Lamar Wills to a contract for undisclosed terms. Wills, at 6-5 and 307 lbs, played for a year with the Washington Redskins in 1994. During that year, his stats were uninteresting.

My Comments:

Abdul-Jabbar makes it just under the wire. Jimmy Johnson, the master psychologist makes a public comment about Karim and he's signed less than 24 hours later.
