Dolphins News: Jordan Breaks Hand; Wooden Becomes Safety
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
May 03, 1996: -- Jordan Breaks Hand; Wooden Becomes Safety --
According to a report in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, wide
receiver Charles Jordan broke a bone in his left wrist on Tuesday
during the Quarterback school. The injury is not considered serious
and Jordan will wear a soft cast for the next three weeks. Jordan was
back at practice on Wednesday.
In other news, Jimmy Johnson has decided to move rookie Shawn
Wooden to free safety. Wooden was the 3rd cornerback taken in the
draft by the Dolphins this year.
The Dolphins held their mini-camp from Friday April 26th to
Sunday, April 28th and then continued their practices with Quarterback
school from Monday, April 29th to Thursday, May 2nd. Even though it
was called "Quarterback School", all of the players were asked to show
up and work out with the team.
The next major milestone for the team will be a mini-camp from
June 3rd to June 7th at Nova University, site of the Dolphins'
Training facility. Full training camp starts July 15th, which is also
the same day that the free agency period ends.
My Comments:
Jordan's injury is not serious and he'll probably not miss much
practice time. The move of Wooden to free safety is interesting - it
may reflect a lack of man-to-man cover ability on Wooden's part.
I will prepare a more complete report on the Mini-camp over
the weekend. Look for it on Monday.
