Dolphins News: Brothen and Yarborough Signed
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Apr 24, 1996: -- Brothen and Yarborough Signed --
The Dolphins announced yesterday that they have signed
Offensive Lineman Kevin Brothen and Cornerback William Yarborough from
Virginia Tech to contracts for undisclosed terms.
Brothen, at 6'3' and 293 lbs is a 3 year veteran who
originally signed with the Dolphins in 1993 and spent most of last
year on the injured reserve list after he injured his knee in training
camp. He has never been much of a factor in any games the Dolphins
have played.
Yarborough (6'0", 166 lbs) is an undrafted rookie free agent
who was a 4 year letterman at Virginia Tech. Yarborough started all
11 games last season at cornerback and ended the year with 52 tackles
and 5 interceptions.
My Comments:
Brothen has been with the Dolphins for a while and has never
started for the team. I kind of doubt that he'll be with the team
this fall, but for the time being - the more, the merrier.
Yarborough is a skinny kid who apparently has some good talent
in coverage - 5 picks in a season is a good season. Unless he bulks
up, though, he'll just bounce off those bigger receivers and running
backs.
