Dolphins News: 5 Undrafted Rookies Signed
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Apr 23, 1996: -- 5 Undrafted Rookies Signed --
The Dolphins announced immediately after the draft that they
had reached terms with 5 undrafted rookie free agents. The players
are:
Player Pos. Ht. Wt. 40 College
Andy Fuller TE 6-1 258 4.95 Auburn
Anthony Harris LB 6-1 224 4.6 Auburn
Larry Izzo LB 5-10 220 Rice
Rodney Ray CB 5-10 185 4.5 Northwestern
Sir Mawn Wilson WR 6-2 210 4.48 Syracuse
Andy Fuller is a better blocker than a receiver, but always
works hard and hustles. He has also played linebacker, so he may
contribute on special teams.
Harris is fast and tough, as well as a very hard worker with a
lot of hustle. He lacks the best instincts and is not big enough to
take on blockers real well.
Rodney Ray is a converted running back who is a good overall
athlete and who played basketball and ran track in high school.
However, he needs to develop his coverage and tackling skills.
Wilson is a big receiver with lots of athletic ability, but
has had a lack of production. In 1995, he missed the first two games,
but played in the rest of the season. However, he only caught 16
passes for 211 yards and 1 touchdown.
I was unable to find any information on Izzo.
My Comments:
This is a group of guys who don't have much chance of making
it in the NFL, but for now, they are officially members of the Miami
Dolphins. My guess is that Harris has the best chance at being on the
team in September, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them all gone.
