Dolphins News: Keith Sims Signs with Dolphins
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Mar 08, 1996: -- Keith Sims Signs with Dolphins --
According to a report from SportsTicker, the Dolphins have
signed Offensive Guard Keith Sims to a 5 year contract for undisclosed
terms. It was not originally expected that Sims would return to the
Dolphins and he had been talking with other teams.
Sims has started 69 consecutive games with the Dolphins since
1991 and was named as a Pro-Bowl starter for the second year in a row
in 1995. Sims has been the starting left guard for the Dolphins
since he was drafted in 1990.
My Comments:
This off-season has been full of surprises about things done
and not done by Jimmy Johnson and his staff. It was not originally
thought that the Dolphins would be able to keep Sims and they didn't
initially show much interest in him.
With the freeing up of the money reserved for Vincent and
Coleman and the lack of large offers from other teams for Sims, the
Dolphins were apparently able to work out a long term deal with him.
I don't think that anyone can doubt that this is a plus for
Miami and will help to keep the team strong in the future. If anyone
has more details on what Sims finally signed for, I'd love to hear
them.
