Dolphins News: Parmalee Has Knee Surgery
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Jan 24, 1996: -- Parmalee Has Knee Surgery --
Reuters is reporting that Miami Dolphins running back Bernie
Parmalee underwent surgery last Friday to repair a torn anterior
cruciate ligament (ACL) in the right knee.
Dolphins head coach Jimmy Johnson said that Bernie is expected
to miss some offseason work, but that he should be back in time for
the beginning of training camp in July. The surgery was described as
"very successful".
Coach Johnson also announced that Bob Ackles has been named
Director of Football Operations. He went on to say "When it came to
scouting, I think Bob helped me more than anybody during my years with
the Cowboys."
My Comments:
I wasn't aware that Bernie had problems with his knee, but
that may explain some of the problems he had late in the season with
his running. Hopefully, he'll be back at full strength before the
regular season starts.
On a more personal note, it's going to take a while to get
used to typing the phrase "Dolphins Head Coach Jimmy Johnson". Don't
get me wrong, I'm glad we got Johnson, but I'll miss the Don.
