Dolphins News: Meet the Head Coach of the Dolphins: Jimmy Johnson
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Jan 11, 1996: -- Meet the Head Coach of the Dolphins: Jimmy Johnson --
Jimmy Johnson signed a 4 year, $8 million dollar contract
today to become the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, making him the
highest paid coach in the NFL. Johnson will be only the 3rd Head
Coach in the 30 year history of the team.
Johnson, who showed up for work at 8 AM this morning, even
before the contract was signed, will have total control over all
day-to-day operations of the team.
Johnson said that his first task will be to select a coaching
staff and begin evaluating talent for the draft in April. He also
must make a number of decisions about which of the Dolphins' free
agents will be re-signed in the coming season.
My Comments:
I'm glad that Jimmy Johnson is the Dolphins' new Head Coach.
The coming off-season should be one of the most interesting and
exciting in the history of the team.
As far as possible assistant coaches are concerned, some names
being thrown around are Joe Bugel, Hudson Houck (from Dallas) and Joe
Avezzano (also from Dallas).
Well, DolFans - here we go.....
