Jan 10, 1996: -- Johnson Meets With Huizenga --

Jimmy Johnson met with Wayne Huizenga today at the Dolphins training facility at Nova University in Davie, Florida. Dolphins' owner Huizenga characterized the meeting as very productive and said that he will meet with Johnson again on Thursday.

For his part, Johnson said "I feel very good about it. I like the relationship that we've started.''

According to the Dolphin Digest, Johnson remained at the Dolphins' Training Facility for 3 hours after Huizenga left, chatting with reporters and apparently getting familiar with the Facility.

The meeting was comfortable enough that Huizenga was able to joke with reporters, saying "One of the big issues is Jimmy has to shave his head,"

To which Jimmy Johnson replied "And that's a big hang-up,"

My Comments:

If today is any indication, the deal is progressing very well and the only thing left to do is to work out the details, which shouldn't be a problem.

The Don Shula era is over. The Jimmy Johnson era could begin as soon as Monday.
