Dolphins News: Kirby Dar Dar Signed from Practice Squad
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Dec 27, 1995: -- Kirby Dar Dar Signed from Practice Squad --
The Dolphins announced on Saturday that they have signed
Running Back/Wide Receiver Kirby Dar Dar to the regular team from the
Dolphins' practice squad.
Dar Dar was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free
agent this spring by the Dolphins and he played through most of
the preseason for the team, but was cut in August to get down to the
60 player limit. He was later signed to the Dolphins practice squad.
Dar Dar played his college football at Syracuse and the 5'9",
183 lb running back is actually listed as a wide receiver on the
Dolphins and will wear #15.
Dar Dar played in the game against the Rams on Sunday, mostly
on special teams, and was credited with one tackle and one kickoff return for 22 yards.
My Comments:
I guess Dar Dar had a pretty good training camp, but there
were just too many good running backs and wide receivers on the team
to keep him on the regular squad.
I always find it a little exciting when a player like Dar Dar
makes the regular squad. I always have hope that they will turn out
like Bernie Parmalee, showing unknown talent and making a good name
for themselves. I like to cheer on the underdog.
