Dec 22, 1995: -- Bryan Cox Fined for Fight --

The NFL has announced that it is fining Bryan Cox $17,500 for his part in the fight with Carwell Gardner during the Buffalo game on Sunday. The fine was split, so that $10,000 was for the fight itself and $7,500 was for spitting on the field after the fight in what Commissioner Paul Tagliabue has called "conduct detrimental to the league".

Carwell Gardner was fined $15,000 - $10,000 for his part in the fight and $5,000 for trying to get into Miami's locker room after the incident and the trying to bait Bryan Cox off Miami's team bus after the game. Gardner has denied both incidents, despite witness accounts.

My Comments:

The only thing I have to say is that I find it interesting that the league considers spitting on the field to be worse than trying to start another fight.
