Dolphins News: Heller may go on IR
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Nov 01, 1995: -- Heller may go on IR --
According to a report in USA Today, Dolphins' tackle Ron
Heller may be placed on injured reserve today after having knee
surgery last week on both knees.
Heller was replaced in the lineup on Sunday by first round
draft pick Billy Milner.
If Heller is place on injured reserve, he will be ineligible
to play for the rest of the season.
The report also mentioned that the Dolphins might sign either
veteran Eric Moore or Mark Hatfield to take Heller's spot on the
roster.
My Comments:
Well, it wasn't entirely unexpected, but it is a
disappointment. Heller has always given the offensive line a
reliable, if unspectacular player, whose toughness has been a valued
asset.
It would probably not be out of line to suggest that this may
be the end of Heller's career.
Apparently, the coaching staff was pleased enough by Billy
Milner's performance, that they feel they can do without Heller for
the rest of the season. Personally, I thought Milner had a pretty good
game. Parmalee's touchdown run was around Milner's end and Parmalee
had a very big hole to run through at the line of scrimmage.
I don't have my reference handy, but I believe Eric Moore used
to play for the Cardinals. Mark Hatfield's name is also familiar. If
anyone has any more information on either of them, please let me know.
