Dolphins News: McClinton Signed to Practice Squad
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Sep 08, 1995: -- McClinton Signed to Practice Squad --
The Dolphins announced yesterday that they have signed Fullback
Lee McClinton to the practice squad.
McClinton, who backed up Wilson and Byars in the pre-season and
through the first game, was signed this summer as a rookie free agent
from New Hampshire.
During the pre-season, he caught 2 passes for 9 yards, but never
carried the ball.
My Comments:
This was expected when the Dolphins waived him from the regular
roster on Wednesday. Apparently the performance of Byars and Wilson
on Sunday convinced the coaching staff that he wasn't needed.
The word is that the reason McClinton was demoted to the practice
squad was to make room on the regular roster for CB Calvin Jackson,
who is expected to be promoted to take the place of CB Frankie Smith,
who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
However, no official word on Jackson has been received.
