Dolphins News: Roster Cut Down to 60
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Aug 22, 1995: -- Roster Cut Down to 60 --
The Dolphins announced yesterday who they were cutting from the
roster to make it down to the 60 player limit by Tuesday night. The
only player that could be considered a surprise was Doug Pederson, who
was originally considered to have the inside track over Doug McGwire
because of his familiarity with the Dolphins offensive schemes.
The list of players cut on Monday is:
QB Doug Pederson
WR Burt Thornton
OT Seth Dittman
C Jason James
DT Mark Caesar
LB Rodney Wilkerson
S Melvin Crawford
Additionally, WR Scott Miller, who is probably out for the year,
was officially placed on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list.
My Comments:
Well, Pederson had the inside track, but derailed himself with
his miserable performance against the Falcons (3-12 for 28 yards, with
2 INTs and no TDs). McGwire, on the other hand, certainly didn't
hurt himself with his performance against the Jaguars, completing 8 of
11 for 65 yards and a touchdown.
The only other name on this list that was at all surprising was
Mark Caesar. Caesar was kept on the practice squad last year, but the
competition was apparently just too much for him.
