May 18, 1995: -- Draftees Hand and Swinson Signed --

The Dolphins signed two draftees yesterday: fifth round pick Norman Hand and seventh round pick Corey Swinson. Both of these players are defensive lineman. Terms were undisclosed.

My Comments:

One good thing about the salary cap is that it has made the signing of draft picks much easier. The teams only have so much money to go around and the agents know it.

Hand was Bowens' teammate at Mississippi and had a good junior season - which was the last time he played next to Bowens.

He has a reputation for not playing hard and for being lazy, but if anyone can shake him out of that, it's Joe Green.

Swinson is a long shot to make the team, but he is a *big* guy and signing him early will only help his chances.
