Dolphins' News: Pack trades Buckley to 'Phins
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Apr 04, 1995: -- Pack trades Buckley to 'Phins --
The news media announced yesterday that the Green Bay Packers had
traded Terrell Buckley to the Dolphins for "past considerations". This
means that the Dolphins effectively got Buckley and a number 2 draft
pick for Mark Ingram and Keith Jackson.
The apparent holdup of this part of the trade was a problem
with the Dolphins' salary offer to Buckley.
Last season, Buckley had 63 tackles, 5 interceptions and defensed
17 passes.
My Comments:
I know that there has been a lot of controversy surrounding
Buckley in Miami, but if you look at his statistics from last season,
they compare favorably with JB Browns' and Troy Vincents':
Tackles Interceptions Passes Defensed
Troy Vincent: 62 5 20
JB Brown: 71 3 15
T. Buckley: 63 5 17
I don't expect that the Dolphins want to start Buckley, but they
will probably expect him to be the nickel back. In that regard, I
think that they probably got a pretty good deal.
