Dolphins' News: Dellenbach Signs with Patriots

*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***

Mar 06, 1995: -- Dellenbach Signs with Patriots --

The Boston Globe reported on Saturday that Jeff Dellenbach, former starting center for the Miami Dolphins, signed a contract for a reported $1.4 million per year with the New England Patriots last Friday. This is the first Dolphins' unrestricted free agent to sign with another team this spring.

Dellenbach had been with the Dolphins for 10 years before leaving for the Patriots and had been a starter for most of that time.

The Dolphins' counter offer to him was reported to be only around $800,000 per year.

In the Eric Green rumor department, it now appears that the Dolphins are not as interested in Green as they once were. The Globe also reported that Don Shula is supposed to have lost interest in Green when he tipped the scales at 295 lbs on his visit to Miami.

My Comments:

It's a shame that Dellenbach couldn't be signed, but I'm not sure that that's a major disaster. Tim Ruddy should be a competent starter, however; and is supposed to be a good run blocker.
