I don't have much to say about the game today. Miami lost 20-13 because their offense couldn't get in gear against the Indianapolis defense. The running game was adequate, with Lamar Smith averaging 4.4 yards per carry for 97 yards, but the passing game was horrid. Whether that is because of Fiedler or the receivers is not clear, but Fiedler was not getting the ball to the right receivers or they weren't getting open.
The worst stat of the day was Miami's conversion of only 2 of 13 third downs. And Jay Fiedler once again threw an interception late in the 4th quarter, when Miami had a chance to drive down for a tying score.
The defense did a pretty good job and contained Edgerrin James pretty well. They got off to a slow start, giving up an early touchdown and 17 first half points, but they solidified in the second half, holding the Colts to a single field goal. They also stopped the Colts late in the game and forced them to punt, giving Miami's offense a chance to possibly tie up the game. However, Fiedler threw an interception to end that chance.
Overall, I'm afraid that Miami's offense is not playing well enough right now to be much of a force in the playoffs. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it's beginning to look like Jay Fiedler's throwing is being hampered by his injury. Dave Wannestedt needs to consider giving Damon Huard the start next week to allow Fiedler to rest.
