Dolphins News: Lamar Thomas and Mel Agee signed

*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***

Jul 28, 1996: -- Lamar Thomas and Mel Agee signed --

The Dolphins announced yesterday that they have signed former Tampa Bay Wide Receiver Lamar Thomas to a contract for undisclosed terms. Thomas, who played for the University of Miami before joining the Bucs, was waived by the Buccaneers after being arrested for allegedly beating his pregnant girlfriend during a July 4th party.

During 3 years with the Bucs, the 6'2", 173 lb receiver caught 25 passes for 386 yards and 2 TDs.

Also signed was former Atlanta defensive tackle Mel Agee, who, at 6'5" and 300 lbs, had his best year as a pro last year, making 54 tackles with no sacks and starting 6 games for the Falcons.

Agee played his college ball at Illinois, where he had 201 tackles and 11 sacks in 3 years as a starter. After college, he joined the Colts for 2 years and then played in Atlanta from 1993 to 95.

My Comments:

These guys are just placeholders until the real players get rested and recovered. It's hard to imagine either player making the team in the long run.
