Dolphins News: Hollier Re-Signed

*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***

May 09, 1995: -- Hollier Re-Signed --

EPSNet announced this afternoon that the Dolphins had signed restricted free agent Dwight Hollier to a two year contract for undisclosed terms.

The Dolphins also signed rookie free agent running back Ontiwaun Carter. The ESPN draft guide lists him as 5'9", 180 lbs with 4.6 speed. He attended Arizona, where, as a senior in 1994, he rushed 268 times for 1,163 yards and 7 touchdowns.

My Comments:

Hollier has been with the Dolphins for four years now and has started in a number of games for the 'Phins. While not a John Offerdahl, he has been a steady, consistent performer who, at the very least, will provide quality depth at linebacker.

Carter was not drafted, and even though he had decent numbers in college, he has a few knocks against him, the most prominent of which is a tendency to fumble (according to ESPN). If that's true, then he is a long shot to make the team, especially considering the depth already present and the other rookie running backs that have been signed.

ESPN has a brief Report on Carter on their Web server.
