So are all of you that are outraged about the thought of trading Bess this year, OK with signing him to a long term deal at 4 or 5 mil a year next year? Not sure in this day and age of FA, why people get so attached to certain players, EVERYONE is expendable, especially ones that don't really fit the new system you're trying to implement.
@ Chyren, maybe I was a little generous in calling a 5t

Bess is a FA next year AND he doesn't really fit the prototype WCO WR mold, if you can get a decent pick for him (3/4/5th rounder?), then you trade him.

If the question is;
"So the question is do we a trade a second & 12 to move up for Johnson"
Then the answer is;

This is the dumbest post i've seen in a while (that says something on this board lately);
the people defending it?.........I question their motives;
I agree 100% with eesti's comment;
and the Truth, as usual, was spot on with his assessment
.........that is all, carry on.

This is exactly the type of signing that dolfanmark was talking about when he said to expect more changes. If Louis looks healthy in camp, you can kiss Jerry or Incog goodbye, this guy fits the more athletic type of O-lineman that Philbin wants.

You guys crack me up acting like Ross is the anti-christ, he's not the best owner ever, but he's far from the worst. Also, I remember arguing with people on this board many years ago about Wayne H. being a good owner (can't remember who it was), same argument 5/6 years later.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I'm not sure why any fan would care if/when they do this. It doesn't count against the cap, and he will be fired if RT fails no matter what his contract status is. It's Ross's money, he can spend it any way he wants.

Good, now go out and sign Winston and a decent CB, that would cap off an excellent FA period for Ireland IMO.
Also, note to self; don't ever play a high stakes poker game with Jeff Ireland!

I like the plan...........but, doesn't signing Gibson stop us from drafting Austin? At the very least, Bess has to be gone to sign Gibson and draft Austin (i'm OK with trading Bess, just not sure what you'll get?)
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
It seems like Long is holding up the rest of the OT's from signing, kinda like Revis is holding up the CB's for falling into place. Wish these guys would sheeyat or get off the pot already. Also, I think it'll be Winston when we do sign one.

Such a dilema for you Crowder, if it's not Philbin, then Ireland has to get the credit for our financial situation.

So if it's unproven now, how would taking a rookie make it "proven"?

Pro Football Focus @PFF 7m
Dolphins defense getting more aggressive. Picked up two of the better blitzing linebackers in the league. Really attack QB with intent

So far i'm happy with todays results, Wallace was not my first choice, but hard to fault Ireland for filling a glaring hole with the best WR available (I just don't like the price tag, and don't think he's the prototype WC reciever), still, kudos for getting RT a bonefied WR to help his developement.
Didn't really see a LB makeover coming this year either, and don't know much about the two sign

Moore didn't just sign his contract to be traded, he's not going anywhere. And I doubt if we sign Wallace to huge bux, that we will take a WR in the 1st (maybe in a trade down scenario), could be wrong but I doubt it.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I won't complain too much, but i'm still not sold on signing Wallace to a huge contract. I'd rather see us sign Jennings and draft a guy real high, or sign Jennings and the Rams WR. Just my 2 cents

Not sure i'm a big fan of this negotiating window deal, it'll make the weekend interesting and all, but it will take away the "Christmas morning" feel to the start of FA.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Yeah you guys are probably right, my original thought was Ireland covering his bets in case Tanny fails, but in reality, if Tanny fails Ireland is toast. And you are right Crowder, I read somewhere that RT was lobbying Moore to stay in Miami.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Lets face it, Moore is also an insurance policy in case Tanny regresses, Ireland/Philbin will never admit that, but it is what it is.

Some knucklehead Dolphins fan called Sirius NFL radio this morning and suggested we trade the freshly minted Brian Hartline for Percy Harvin, god I hope he isn't a poster on this forum.........on second thought, Chyren what were you doing this morning?

We almost HAVE to re-sign Hartline, Wallace and Jennings are no sure thing, it could kill Tannehills developement to rely on unproven rookies in his second year. I'll be shocked if we don't re-sign him.
