What it means is that I'm going to make the News Wire configurable so that you can choose which feeds you see and which you don't. That's all.

Phins.com Fans,
I am (unfortunately) well aware of the issues with the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel feed now that they have decided to force users to subscribe to their sports site.
As a result, I'm going to undertake a project during the off-season to allow users to customize the news feed on the website by selecting which sources they want to see. The technical details have yet to be w

Not really. There is a little red "new" that appears next to the title when the message is new, but I don't know of any way to hide the old ones.

Well, *safe* is not really a term one should use where the internet is concerned. More or less safe is really where it's at. But Chrome does have a pretty good record so far.

It was almost certainly something in one of the Ads. I don't knowingly load anything from "streeter.com" in any of my pages, but the ads are loaded from third-party sites and I have very little control over what gets loaded. Once in a while, some bad ads do slip through.
As far as browsers are concerned, most of the security studies I've read rate Google Chrome as the most secure

ChyrenB, it sounds to me like you've got some kind of virus or adware that inserts links into stuff you're seeing in your browser. I would guess that it's associated directly with a plugin you're using in Firefox. I would do the following:
1. Run a scan for viruses and adware on your laptop.
2. Try a different browser like Chrome or (*shudder*) Internet Explorer.
3. If you have any t

There were some issues on the main Phins.com server this afternoon that were slowing down everything. I've cleaned up those problems and service should be back to normal.
Sorry for the problems.

Not having the Ads increases privacy and safety(as you don't have to deal with tracking cookies, adware and possible viruses) and also makes the page load faster.
I've been doing some speed testing and tweaking of Phins.com and the thin

Just to clarify, the current site would not change and would still be available just as it is now.
But for those would be willing to pay a little money for an ad-free version, I could make that an option.

The current site would remain as it is. I'd just ADD the option to pay for an ad-free site. If you didn't want to pay, you would still have the same ad-supported site as you have now.

I have been considering adding a pay-subscription option to Phins.com that would be in addition to the ad-supported site. This would probably cost about $2 per month and would include a completely ad-free site, with an autoloading and possibly customizable News Wire. It would also include rss feeds that could be customized and would take you directly to the site from the link, rather than throu

I answered this privately, but it's also worth a public response.
The Adware cookies are the result of my using two advertising companies

In an effort to prevent spammers from joining the list and posting spam messages before being banned, I've turned on moderating of new users.
From now on, when a person registers for a new account, I get a message asking me to approve or disapprove them. That allows me to run a cursory check on them to see if they're a real fan or just a spammer. Right now, new user requests are only run

Yeah, it's bad. I ban them as soon as I see them, but new spammers will register and post one spam message before I can get to them.

Dolphins first round draft history
Pretty sad - especially since about 1996. Since JJ took Daryl Gardener, you can count on one hand the number of quality players taken in the first round.

I'm closing this topic: It's misogynistic, pointless and disrespectful of Tannehill, his wife and the team.
Criticizing a player for poor play is one thing - even criticizing his personal behavior when he does something bad off the field is ok with me - but attacking his wife (who has done nothing deserving of this kind of abuse, so far as I know) is disgusting. Don't we get enough of this

Due to the overwhelming response by the fans, "The Bleacher Report" has been removed as a source of Dolphins' news for the News Wire. You can check the results here.

The Bleacher Report has been voted off the island by an overwhelming majority of votes. 73% of voters said I should dump it, so I'm dumping it.

There have been many complaints about the quality of The Bleacher Report news articles in the Phins.com News Wire, so I decided to have a poll about it.
If you want to see The Bleacher Report news articles continue to appear on the News Wire, vote "Yes". If you want me to remove The Bleacher Report from the News Wire, vote "No"

Right now, users wishing to sign up for the boards must respond to an email once they enter their information. That prevents the bots from automatically registering.
Unfortunately, JC is right - some spam companies employ large groups of people who do nothing but post spam to websites like phins.com. And there's really nothing that can be done about that.
Fortunately, when they do post,

Basically, the bills being contemplated by the House and Senate would expand the ability of the government and private

Phinsfan2 was tired of fighting with certain members of the board and tired of trying to monitor the conversations and police the members, so he decided it would be best if he retired.
